A break-reminder timer rewritten from Java to a Rust/Tauri daemon with a separate UI.
What was built
- Pomodoro mode, screen-time tracking, pause nudges
- GNOME idle detection over D-Bus
What happened
Idle memory fell from about 840 MB to 26 MB, and overlay CPU from 21% to 2.7% of a core, after the daemon/UI split.
What it taught me
The standard X11 idle check silently fails under Wayland. Verify the platform, not the library's contract.
